Change the Color of Your Eyes?

Change the color of your eyes? Would you be willing to undergo surgery to do it?

There is a procedure called “keratopigmentation” or “corneal tattoo,” which can help you change your eye color to the color you choose.

It has 3 main variants:

  • Superficial keratopigmentation, which consists of injecting pigments into the cornea.
  • The intra-stromal variant, which injects pigment at a depth of 40-50% of the cornea’s thickness.
  • And finally, the femtosecond laser variation, which uses infrared pulses to penetrate the transparent cornea and inject the pigment.

This last technique is the safest of the three, as it has fewer side effects and a shorter recovery time. In fact, many celebrities and influencers have recently undergone it.

This intervention was originally medically recommended, since it could help solve visual problems such as:

Cells moving from the cornea to the iris

Discomfort in bright light

Or disabling double vision.

However, it has recently gained popularity for cosmetic reasons, and although the main complications include:

Pigment discoloration, which is corrected with a second surgery

Excessive multiplication of epithelial cells, which is the area that protects your cornea.

  • Chronic dry eye
  • Glaucoma
