Hackers Breach Boyd Gaming Systems

Boyd Gaming, a prominent casino and entertainment company, has reported a cybersecurity breach impacting some of its internal IT systems. The company disclosed the incident in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

According to Boyd Gaming, the breach has not affected its properties or ongoing business operations. The Las Vegas-based company is working closely with external cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement to investigate the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that hackers accessed and stole certain data, including employee records and information of a limited number of other individuals. The company has stated that it does not anticipate a material negative impact on its financial condition or operational results.

Boyd Gaming emphasized that it carries a comprehensive cybersecurity insurance policy, expected to cover costs related to incident response, forensic investigation, business interruptions, legal proceedings, and potential regulatory fines, subject to the policy’s terms and limits.

It remains unclear whether the attack involved ransomware, as no known ransomware group has claimed responsibility. However, the casino and hospitality industry has frequently been targeted by such threat actors in the past.

Boyd Gaming continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with authorities. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
