If I had to give you only one cybersecurity tip, it would definitely be this: Change your router password.
You need “ZERO” technical knowledge. That means anyone can do it, from kids to seniors. And it will be a great shield to protect you from internet threats. Including theft of banking information, personal data, and much more.
This “tip” is related to your router, your modem, and your internet provider. Because when you sign up for an internet service, whether it’s Totalplay, Infinitum, or Izzi, they usually give you the modem with a sticker showing the username and password.
And this is extremely serious, and most people tend to leave it that way. Especially older adults.
I’ll explain why it’s necessary to change it, since it’s very dangerous to leave it like that.
It’s equivalent to leaving your house open 24/7 with doors and windows wide open. And if an attacker has this information, they could access even the “kitchen” of your network.
Why change your router password?
Another point that will catch your attention is that router brands publish their default passwords online. Just search on Google the model of your router plus the phrase “password by default.” Google will show passwords for many models, and one of them could be exactly yours.
If that’s your case, you need help. Change your router password immediately!
I recommend sharing this information with your grandparents or parents because it’s very important they make this password change.
If you need help, you can write it in the comments or go to Instagram and send me a message. We will gladly try to support you.
